Aptana Studio is a robust environment for building web pages and applications supporting JavaScript, Ruby on Rails, and PHP development atop great Ajax, DOM, HTML and CSS support and plug-ins for Adobe AIR and Apple iPhone development. For advanced web development, Aptana Studio Pro offers additional productivity features and premium support. Aptana Studio 1.1 also includes an embedded version of Aptana's new Ajax Server, Aptana Jaxer.

Aptana supports the following architecture versions for each OS:
Windows - x86 architecture (32-bit)
Mac OS - OS X \ PowerPC architecture, OS X \ Intel architecture. OS X 10.4 or later
Linux - x86 architecture, GTK windowing system
Hardware Recommendations

Aptana will run on most modern hardware, but for best performance, we recommend the following:
Windows - 512 MB RAM, Pentium 4-level processor
Mac OS - 512 MB RAM, G5 or Intel-based machine
Linux - 512 MB RAM, Pentium 4-level processor
JRE

Using the Aptana IDE requires you to have v1.5.0 or later of the Java JRE installed on your computer. For Windows users, take into account whether or not you already have the JRE installed when you choose which version of the Aptana installer file to download.
If you are using Windows 98, you will need to download a JRE separately from Sun.
The Mac version does not include the JRE because the Mac OS already includes the appropriate JRE. However, Milestone 8 is only supported on 10.4 or later. Users of 10.3.9 can continue to use Milestone 7.
The Linux version does not include a JRE. Depending on your distro, you may be able to easily update that from Add/Remove programs.

The Aptana Studio Community Edition provides a full-featured web development environment. The Community Edition represents the core pieces of the Aptana frameworks for editing, debugging, synchronization, and project management.

If you'd like to try Studio Professional, it will automatically revert to the Community Edition once the trial expires.
